  1. I was so excited when I saw that there was another adventure for Owen and Spot! I love reading about what is going on with them and the other regular characters like Diamond and Street. I read the book while I was on vacation in South Tahoe. It really enhanced the visit! Twice while I was reading, what I read coincided exactly with what we were doing. One thing was when Todd writes about how the Jeffrey Pine bark smells like butterscotch – my kids had just returned from a night hike at the Taylor Creek Visitor Center and were telling me this very thing. The 2nd was when my husband and son took a day trip to Virginia City. They returned, and were telling me about the wild Mustangs they had seen on the way at the same time as I was reading that exact thing in the book! That is what makes Todd Borg’s books so wonderful! He incorporates so much information about Tahoe’s history, locations and happenings. Even if you have never been to Tahoe he really brings it to life in the book. I look forward to another adventure!

I really enjoyed this latest Owen & Spot book! I liked learning about the Mustangs, the Washoes, and the bio tech world. Also, having a character like Ryan who is so smart, and has so much money, but is just so socially awkward. This is just so much a part of the world we live in now, but I appreciated seeing this human side and how Ryan was also tied into the Washoes and Tahoe. I’m hoping we’ll hear from or get an update on Lily and Ryan, (and maybe Carol too), in the next book(s). The previous book had been a little different style to me, but this one was back to what I love about Todd Borg’s books. I definitley recommend it!

  3. From Todd Borg’s very first Owen McKenna mystery to this one he never lets the reader know who ‘did it’ until the very end. I have learned not to try and even guess anymore. This story has as many twists and turns as the roads in Lake Tahoe do. The story had me captured from the very first page. Tahoe Heat, like the other books in this series, is filled with interesting characters and I of course like that so many previous characters are still involved in the story. An up to date story technologically, beautiful Lake Tahoe, Owen, Street and Spot and there is a killer in the area. It is a perfect combination. Please keep the books coming.

Buckle Up your seat belt and get ready for an exciting ride around and through LakeTahoe. He (Borg) has a way with words that keeps the story moving at a fast pace, not wanting to put the book down, though easy to pick up and continue reading the story. “Tahoe Heat”, is on top of the list for a great summer read. I love clowns, the piano and horses, Borg brings all these characters together brilliantly. Micky Spalline, Rex Stout, Dasheill Hammett, were the writters of the 30′s, 40′s thru the 6o’s now its Todd Borg’s turn to carry on the pursuit of crime fighting along with John Grisham, Sue Grafton, to mention a few of our recent crime auhors. A Todd Borg Omelet is available at a Red Hut Restaurant and is the first sign of many salutes to this new author, next maybe a road called “Todd Borg”. Spot and Street are the best helpers for Owen to pursue the truth.

  5. I waited patiently for the next installment of Owen, Spot, Street, Diamond, and their friends. Finally, Tahoe Heat is here! I was so looking forward to this thriller, that I planned a camping trip to Tahoe with the timing of this new book, to take in some of the sites mentioned in the book. I spent time around Cave Rock and other places mentioned in this book as I read this mystery thriller. It added to the action, being in the places mentioned. As you read this latest installment, you know from the beginning, that Owen is going to find the killer given time. I really got a kick out of Owen’s attitude toward horses, as I have the same perspective. My wife is an avid rider, and I like riding machines that have engines. Horses know that I don’t like riding, and they show me no respect. Ha! Once I started reading, I couldn’t put the book down until I finished. I appreciate that he puts enough evil characters in that you are not sure of who the guilty party is…

Thanks for another fine installment, Todd. I will be waiting impatiently to read the next Owen and Spot story. As always, I had to go to the Red Hut for a fine breakfast. My son and daughter are now fighting over who gets to read Tahoe Heat next!
