  1. As a mother of two boys whose bookshelves are filled with parenting books, Your Child It’s Up To You is a resource that will continue to guide me through their many developmental stages. A must read for any parent interested in an insightful, fun to read book with immediate impact.

  2. I have had the pleasure of being a casual friend Barbara Stratton for several years. I knew that she was a family therapist and I always suspected that she was very good at her craft, but we never have really “talked shop.” One of our points of common interest is that I have an MA in counseling psychology and worked as an individual and group therapist for several years, so I know a little about what she does.

I found out that she had published a book while playing golf with her husband. I asked him what it was about and he told me. I told him that I was going to get the book because I felt confident that my daughter would be having children soon (she called four days later to tell me she’s pregnant).

After reading her book, it’s clear to me that Barbara has forgotten about a million times more about individual and family dynamics than I ever knew…and I thought I was fairly good. Reading “Your Child, It’s Up To You!” is an absolute treat and must reading if you want have great relationships (both inside and outside your family)and raise strong, confident children, grandchildren, neices and nephews.

This is not just another child rearing manual. It is a lesson in how to live a great and fulfilling life and become a powerful, positive force at home, at work and in your community.

What most impressed me about her book, was not Barbara’s deep understanding of the subject (as I indicated before, that really came as no surprise). What blew me away was how she communicates her knowledge. I have read many psychology and self-help books over the years and it seems that the vast majority of writers want to impress you with big words and complex theories. I’m sure that Barbara could do that if she wanted to, but instead, she chose to write in clear, simple (not simplistic)and precise language. My first reaction was that her style of writing is elegant, it flows beautifully, but is strong and confident.

This a VERY easy read and magnificently understandable. When you read this, if you don’t have several “WOW” moments, you had better read it again because you just weren’t paying attention. This could be life changing information for many, many people, but just like the title says, “It’s Up To You!”

Since I started reading this book, my relationship with my daughter has changed for the better. I am respectful of her as an individual and in turn she is respecting me, her friends, other grown ups and best of all herself. My husband has noticed a difference in my parenting and in the relationship between myself and my daughter. My daughter keeps telling me how much she loves me and how I am the best mom in the world. I am so grateful to have found this book and I would recommend reading it to any parent.
